A large playground on steroids, the park is an example of the strong philanthropic tradition in the DC region.
Jill's House is a respite center under construction on the opposite side of McLean.
Responsibility To Give
In 2000, Adele Lebowitz donated her 18 acre estate off Georgetown Pike to the Fairfax County Park Authority with two conditions:
- The park be made accessible to special needs children.
- The park be named after her four children, Carolyn (Cl), Emily (emy), John (jon) and Patrina (tri).
Kids of all ages will enjoy the especially bouncy ground made of rubber in a rainbow of colors.
This protects injuries from falls and gives playful energy to those using the park's extensive collection of playground equipment.
Education Focus
The park also has numerous auditory and visual equipment that can be used by all kids.
Bright colors and a multitude of various playground devices stretch muscles and provide for physical movement.
Sense of Love
One can sense the love of parents and grandparents as their charges delight in the park's offerings.
Not all the challenges are easy as one boy emerged from the maze: "Its just too hard!"
There's always tomorrow.
Carousel
A fee merry-go-round operates during the summer months:
9:30am - 1pm weekdays
9:30am - 6:30pm weekends
Respite Center
Over on the other side of town, a Respite Center called "Jill's House" is under construction.
A private organization is building an over night facility to give caretakers a break from their 24/7 responsibilities.
NoVA Programs
Northern Virginia public school systems have numerous programs in this vein that have attracted new residents to the area.
Check with each individual school system as to the programs available.
Open To Public, Results Priceless
Clemyjontri Park or Clemy for short, is open during daylight hours and is free to the public.
Weekends can be busy but on weekdays, visitors may have much of the park to themselves.
The park results are not quite what would go on a spreadsheet yet are on daily display at Clemyjontri Park at Georgetown Pike and Dolley Madison/123.
"What's a win for you?"
