Stratford in Leesburg VA, Community Profile

Stratford in Leesburg VA is a planned community adjoining major commuter routes and the new community of Oak Lawn.

Built in the mid 2000s, Stratford is located on a large hill between the US 15 Bypass, Sycolin Road, and the Dulles Greeneway north of the Leesburg Airport.

The neighborhood does experience low flying planes on their approach to the airport. The sound is more akin to a lawnmower than a large commercial jet however.

House Types

Stratford offers many different housing types.
  1. Larger single family detached houses.
  2. "Conjoined houses" which appear as small detached houses but are built with zero lot lines.
  3. Row townhouses, both with and without garages.
  4. Garden style luxury condos.
Most of the traffic noise from the Dulles Toll Road (Greeneway portion) is blocked by the Stratford Club luxury condo complex. The complex started as apartments but was switched to condo ownership during the housing boom.

Recreation

Various small village greens and common areas are located throughout the townhouse areas.

A large club house fronts a large swimming pool area offering an umbrella sprayer with a shallow wading pool.

Walkers enjoy the trail system which leads to and around a lake to neighboring Oak Lawn which is under construction.

This development includes several free standing commercial buildings which will offer longer distance walkers fast food and office opportunities.

Government Center?

Oak Lawn is also a finalist in the new Loudoun Government Center competition.

Should the Board of Supervisors select the location next to the Toll Road, 800,000 square feet of office space would be constructed near the Stratford Club condos. Developers present their proposals this November but construction is likely 5 years off due to county budget tightening.

With adjoining roads through Oak Lawn, Stratford commuters have immediate interchange access to the Toll Road.
For now, drivers go around to the Toll Road via Oak Lawn and Sycolin Road.
